We have been a bit out of touch during the past two weeks while we moved from the house we lived in for three years to a condo about a mile down the road. Unfortunately, the homeowners decided to sell that house and because of the time of year, there was not much available to rent.
Fortunately, we found a great little condo with lots of privacy and we will be enjoying the many perks it has to offer. For the first time in years we will have on site garbage collection, snow plowing, a dishwasher and a big jetted bathtub. And although it is quite a bit smaller, we got rid of a lot of the stuff we've accumulated over the past five years here in Alaska. It is hard to believe that when Phil and I moved to Alaska in 2005, we each had only a backpack's worth of possessions.
Today, we had to sift through a myriad of furniture, ski and cycle gear, baby gear, paperwork, and books, books, books!!!
But onto Quinn, the real reason for this blog! He is getting cuter and smarter everyday!! I read about the "word explosion" and it has really happened. The other day I wrote down all of the words he says and we are up to about 20. New ones this week alone are: moo, moon, shoe (choo), yeah, don't, and nose.
He can identify his hair, ears, chin, belly, belly button, mouth, teeth, tongue, eyes, toes, fingers, and arms. He is also getting very good at using sign language. He can sign eat, milk, more, please, sorry, hat, dog, shoes, change, again, and poop (sort of!).
Here is a cute new video. It is pretty dark because we didn't turn the light on! Doh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjbScwM6vWA
He is also getting so good at helping!! He helps to load and unload the dishwasher, and it is his sole responsibility to feed the dog. Every morning and evening, Q dutifully carries the dog bowl to the food bin, I dump in the food, and he VERY carefully carries all the way from the pantry to the kitchen and gently sets it down while saying "gentle" (sounds like "dental").
He is also loving attending Little Bears Nursery School two days a week. He is finally napping there and loving playing with the kids. It is such a relief to know that he loves being there!!
Okay, enough bragging about my baby!! But I can't help it. He is so cute it almost makes us want another one! Almost! I said almost!!
Below: Phil and Q take play dough to a whole new level!
I am so happy you are at least liking the new place. The extras sound great! It may give you a little extra time togehter (ie, snow removal)!
Quinn just sounds like pure joy! I can't believe how he is such a big helper. That is really great. I know kids 3 times his age that won't do a thing! HAHAHA. I love the play dough ideas... I will keep that in mid when I babysit again.
Thanks so much for sharing. We miss all of you!

What a wonderful blog, Erika. I'm so glad to be a follower!
Violet also adores Play Doh and spends many hours - HOURS - playing with Grandpa. Right now, she prefers making lollipops, complete with sticks and cellophane wrappers tied with ribbon.
Sounds like you enjoy Alaska. I'd love to visit some day.
